Patricia Wales, Publication Systems Manager, Sappi Fine Paper Selecting paper by the Numbers in the global village The presentation will cover one of today's great challenges, selecting paper by the numbers. The paper industry uses a set of metrics that inadequately predict paper product performance in a color managed workflow. Papers from Europe and Asia are manufactured to a different model, are tested differently and behave differently in American printing systems. The changing American model for paper manufacture will be contrasted with European and Asian models. Current optical paper metrics will be examined, alternate metrics proposed, and correlation to offset litho output provided. Learn the importance of illuminant selection and the reality of optical brighteners in paper and their impact on color gamut. Don't miss this presentation of real world information that impacts imagery duplication on coated paper substrates.
