Chairperson Meeting
Not much to report from this session. In order to get the full registration package of $400, I had decided to speak. I figured I was not going to try to chair any sessions, but thought I would see if they needed any help. Fortunately for me, they had enough chairpersons and I didn't need to volunteer any further. I found out where the speaker ready room was, and then discovered that there were no chairpersons for the 'Ask the Experts' sessions. Naturally. I was one of the 'experts'. No worries, though…
Officer Meeting
This session is where the Xplor Regional/Chapter officers learn what other regions are doing, and what Headquarters has in store for us over the next year. The only officers from the MidAtlantic Region who were in attendance this year were Wilma Grant, Diana Hillman, EDP, Paul LeTourneur, EDP, and yours truly.
· The six $5.00 tickets we received for lunch in our registration materials can be combined.
· We are supposed to get more support from HQ. And we are supposed to get some help in one to one marketing. Turns out that 23% of the registered attendees this year are first timers.
· There has been no real membership drive in the last four years
· HQ is looking for year round media agreements
· We have to GROW membership, and the regions need to help
· The new buzz phrase this year is 'Powered by Xplor'.
· There is now corporate sponsorship, which offers 22 ways for Vendors to promote their companies year round
· Virtual chapters and virtual conferences are all being looked at
· Next year we are in Orlando. The convention center is attached to the hotel
· Graphics of America - they are promoting next year's Global just as if it was one of their own. In essence, they are renting an entire hall.
Oh, we have PICTURES from the Officers Meeting. As you can see, we DO try to have fun. Being volunteers, we have learned to balance our work, our lives, and our love for Xplor. Most times, this means we have to somehow keep our sanity.
